God's holy word has the answer for all of life's troubles! Whatever it is that you are going through, whether you're grieving the loss of a loved one, experiencing financial difficulties or you simply feel alone, God's word has something just for you. Below are just a few suggestions for various situation that may occur. Feel free to print this page and save it for future reference.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SAVED?
Many people think that going to church on Sundays is all it takes. Yes, the gathering together of the saints is important as the word of God says to fail not to assemble ourselves (Hebrew 10:25), but to be a true born again believer it will take much more than that. First, you must believe in your heart that Jesus lived, died, lives and saves as it says in Romans 10:9 "If thy confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe that God has raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved". Then you must make a confession of your sins and ask Jesus to forgive them, which I recommend that you do on a daily basis several times a day even if you feel you have not done anything wrong for the bible states in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;". You must pray for forgiveness unto repentence. It might seem like a clique but it is so much more. It's one thing to simply fall on your knees asking God to forgive you of your sins with the full knowledge and intent to do this or these sins again (probably real soon). When you pray for forgiveness unto repentence you are in essence saying that you are truly sorry for commiting or ommiting the sin(s) and have no desire or don't want that desire ever again. God knows the heart whether it is true so there's no point in saying something you don't mean just because you were told to or you think God wants to hear it. Now what comes after that is the hard part and that is putting away the things of the world (denying your flesh). A few examples of this are fornication, adultry, lying, stealing and homosexuality which are just some of the bigger things. But what about those things that has become a part of our everyday life, such as; gossiping, backbiting, holding grudges or not forgiving people that have done you wrong. Pslams 52:2 states "Thy toungue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully" and Proverbs 25:23 states "The north wind driveth away rain: so doeth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue". Oh! and what about that thing that has gotten us all in trouble at one time or another--PRIDE. Proverbs 16:18 states "Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall". And Proverbs 21:4 states "An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin". I know all this is easier said than done, but Philippians 4:13 states "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Now just to recap, the steps to salvation: First step is to follow Romans 10:9 and the second step is to confess your sins and pray for forgiveness. You must seek God and have faith while you are praying. It does you no good to simply fall on your knees and say a bunch of words and not believe that the intended party (Jesus)is listening or that He even exists. Third is denying the flesh. Matthew 16:24-26 states "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. And for whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"
You may say why should I do all of this and give up so much of my life? Just remember what God's word says in Romans 8:12-13 "Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Please realize that there is so much more to salvation than what I've outlined here. This is just to get you started. I pray that these words will encourage you to seek Christ for yourself. Please ask the Lord to lead you to a church that will give you the kind of teaching and guidance necessary to make it into the Kingdom of God. I love you with the love of Chirst. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. AMEN
